Fun Run

Hi it's Zoe. Today, I want to talk about a three-mile fun run I went on with my grandma and mommy. It was fun spending time with grandma and mommy while exercising. It was a community 10k run and two mile walk. We went a little longer than two miles. It was exciting seeing so many people at the race. I even saw my teacher and my neighbor during the walk. I was glad that so many  people had signed up. Each person paid $5 dollars to enter and the money went to support the City of Edinburg community parks, and I was one of them.

The fun run was great exercise and I was tired afterwards, but I felt good. (watch the video with me finishing the race with my grandma). Exercise is very important to keep you strong and healthy. Did you know that February is heart disease awareness month? This means people bring attention to heart disease and remind people to keep their hearts healthy and strong with good diet and exercise.

I like to exercise all the time by swinging on my swing, riding my bike, or playing basketball in my driveway with my brother and daddy. I like playing volleyball and tennis with my mommy. As mommy says, "A family that plays together, stays together."  I am not allowed to watch a lot of T.V. and I don't play video games. Instead, I read, make creative stuff, and play with my friends and run around outside. It's more fun than being indoors all the time.

Scientists say that if you watch a lot of T.V. or play lots of video games you get cranky and mad. But if you play and move around getting exercise, you stay happy and healthy.  That's how I felt after the fun run. I like to exercise with my family. Do you exercise with your family? I have some ideas about the things you could do with your family. Try riding bikes around the neighborhood. If you have a dog (or dogs. I have three of them.), try walking him as a family.  You can even suggest that you walk to places close to home as a family, like to a neighborhood park or a store. This way you are getting exercise and not polluting the earth by driving to someplace nearby. Many activities can be done outside.

When you exercise you can even help people while you are at it, like I did today. I signed up for a walk and helped my city's parks. In fact, I plan on doing another walk in March. Many people don't get enough exercise. Try to exercise as much as you can so you can be happy, healthy, and strong. Maybe you have an idea of things a family can do together. Share them with me or leave a comment. I'd love to hear from you. Bye!
